An in depth study of a song of Tagore: Likhan tomar dhulay hayeche dhuli

Abstract

The object of study of the present paper is a well known song of Tagore: likhon tomar dhulay hoyeche dhuli. It should be noted that this study is confined only to the poetic aspect of the song ; the musical aspect is excluded. The song pivots on the theme of love and time. Our objective is to demonstrate through an in depth analysis of the salient linguistic features of the song, how the theme has been developed at various levels of the text: lexical, morpho-syntactic, phonetic and semantic.
