A feminist reading on Khadeeja Mumtaz's Barsa

Abstract

This paper attempts a study on Khadeeja Mumthaz's Barsa, a Malayalam novel critiquing the position of women in Muslim society. The author discusses many practices in the society which subjugate women because of misinterpretation of the religion and ignorance of the women and the need for protecting their rights.
